The following are qualifying classes for the Amateur Riders Hunter Championships at the Royal International Horse Show. Owners and riders to be members of the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain and horses registered on the 2001 Show Hunter Register.
JUDGE: MRS. R. BRYER, Somerset (Ride) MRS. S. SHERWIN, Yorks (Conformation)
Class 95    LIGHTWEIGHT MARE OR GELDING, 4 years old and over, capable of carrying 13 stone and under.
Class 96 HEAVYWEIGHT MARE OR GELDING, 4 years or over, capable of carrying over 13 stone.
Definition of Amateur Status: A person is an amateur for showing purposes when showing in amateur ridden hunter classes, if he or she does not:-
a) Engage in breeding, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses as a means of deriving income,
b) Accept remuneration whether it be monetary or goods in kind for employment in connection with horses in racing, showing or livery stable or riding school (instruction at Pony Club and Riding Club excepted),
c) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm, or a horse for which his or her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate concerned.
d) Show a horse which a professional rider has qualified for the weight or small ridden hunter class or either the Horse of the Year Show or the Royal International Horse Show during the current year, unless the horse has subsequently been re-registered under new ownership.
e) Show a horse which is exhibited by a professional rider at the same Show.
